The New York Giants Horrendous Season Has a Silver Lining Thanks to the Chicago Bears Ineptitude

The New York Giants were the most powerful team in the NFL last season, but this year they are struggling to stay afloat. Their ineptitude has given the Chicago Bears an opportunity to make a playoff push, and it’s made for some entertaining games.

The bears hall of fame 2021 is a silver lining that the New York Giants have found in their horrid season.

The 2021 season for the New York Giants gets off to a bad start. The club, led by Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, is now 0-3 and on its way to the franchise’s sixth consecutive year of 10-plus defeats. However, there is one consolation for Blue Jays fans. The Chicago Bears are also having a bad season, which bodes well for the Giants’ future.

In 2011, Eli Manning’s New York Giants won the Super Bowl, defeating the New England Patriots in a last-second drive. In the nine seasons since, the Giants have only had two winning seasons and one trip to the playoffs.

The winning seasons occurred in 2012 (9-7) and 2016, when the club went 11-5 but fell in the NFC Wild Card game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.

From 2012 through 2020, the Giants have a 57-87 record. The club’s record has become worse after the 2016 playoff participation, as the squad moved out of the Manning Era and into QB Daniel Jones’ tenure.

In each of the past four seasons, the New Jersey-based team has dropped double digit games. For four head coaches, the organization had a total 18-46 record (Ben McAdoo, interim coach Steve Spagnulo, Pat Shurmur, Joe Judge).

The season in 2021 is shaping up to be just as terrible, if not worse, than the previous ones. The club is 0-3 and has suffered heartbreaking last-second defeats to the Washington Football Team and the Atlanta Falcons, both of which are expected to finish towards the bottom of the league.

The Giants still have time to turn things around, but, as a famous New York athlete once remarked, “it’s getting late early” this season for the Giants.

Fans of the New York Giants, on the other hand, have one reason to be hopeful about the future.

As a result of the Justin Fields deal, the Giants now own the first-round selection of the Chicago Bears.

Despite the Giants’ difficulties, there remains a way for them to improve rapidly via the NFL Draft in 2022. The reason for this is because the organization owns the first-round selection of the Chicago Bears.

The Bears handed up their 2022 first-round selection in the foolish draft-day deal to acquire Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, which suddenly seems like it might be a top-10 choice.

While the Bears have a better 1-2 record than the Giants, they are still in a bad position. Playing quarterback Andy Dalton is sidelined with an injury, franchise savior Fields struggled in his debut, and head coach Matt Nagy is openly considering starting any of his three quarterbacks in Week 4, according to ESPN.

There are many indications that the season in Chicago may be a catastrophe, which is welcome news to Giants supporters.

With two top-10 selections, New York could easily move on from Daniel Jones by selecting Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler or North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell. They may also use collegiate talents like Alabama lineman Evan Neal and Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson to surround whomever the quarterback is.

Another possibility is to transform the defense into a unit comparable to the ones that won Super Bowls in 2007 and 2011. Defensive playmakers like Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton may be used in this way by the front office.

The Giants are expected to have another season of 10-plus defeats ahead of them, but the future looks a bit better after that.

Best chance to win the NFC East, according to ESPN’s FPI:

Cowboys: 64 percent, Eagles: 24 percent, Washington: 10%, and Giants: 2%

“A 2% probability of winning the NFC East isn’t very good…” says Eli Manning.

ESPN predicts several additional probable contenders in the top 10 in next year’s draft, in addition to the New York Giants and Chicago Bears. The Football Power Index (FPI) of the Worldwide Leader is used to assess the chances of a club receiving the No. 1 overall selection or a top-five position.

The (FPI) is defined as a “gauge of team strength that is intended to be the greatest predictor of a team’s success for the remainder of the season.” The FPI assigns a score to each club based on offensive, defensive, special teams, and strength of schedule criteria. Then, to forecast the remainder of the season, ESPN conducts 10,000 simulations.

The New York Jets should get the No. 1 overall selection, according to ESPN FPI predictions, with an average draft position of 4.2 in the simulations. The Jacksonville Jaguars (4.3 ADP) are just behind the Jets, and their odds of finishing first are considerably higher.

The Jaguars have a 25.7 percent probability of winning No. 1 and a 74.4 percent chance of finishing in the top five, according to the FPI, while the Jets have 23.5 percent and 72.6 percent, respectively.

The Detroit Lions (No. 3), Giants (No. 4), Houston Texans (No. 5), Atlanta Falcons (No. 6), Giants via Bears (No. 7), Washington Football Team (No. 8), Philadelphia Eagles (No. 9) and Indianapolis Colts round out the predicted top 10 for the 2022 draft (No. 10).

Pro Football Reference provided all stats.

Before his Jersey Retirement Ceremony, Eli Manning dodges a question about the Giants’ curse: ‘I’d Like to Be There and Get Cheers.’

The madden 22 chicago bears is a team that made the playoffs last year and has been terrible this season. They have lost to teams that they should be beating.
