The Lakers have yet to make a move in the pursuit of Davis, but they could soon be forced into an uncomfortable position. If they wait too long and he leaves for another team, it is unlikely that any contender would take him because of his age (25) and comparatively short career span. The Lakers should consider trading Lonzo Ball or Brandon Ingram if there’s no possibility at landing AD as part of a package deal.,
The Lakers are in an interesting position. They have the chance to admit the harsh truth about Anthony Davis, but it may be too late for them to make a franchise-altering move. Read more in detail here: when will anthony davis return.
The Los Angeles Lakers have fallen well short of their championship aspirations, and they may not even make the playoffs. The health of star forward Anthony Davis has been a disappointment, preventing the team from pursuing a championship.
Regardless of how the Lakers end the 2021-22 season, the team will undergo considerable upheaval in the summer. The team’s top big man might be traded as part of those attempts.

Davis thought that a modified summer fitness plan with a new trainer would help him recover from an injury-plagued season last year.
Instead, the great center is dealing with another another season marred by injury. Due to a damaged MCL in his left knee, he has missed 17 consecutive games. Davis is likely to play against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, after missing the previous 18 games due to a right mid-foot injury.
The Lakers’ problems have been much more than the eight-time All-absence, Star’s but in the 38 games he’s been out, they’ve gone 14-24. Los Angeles has been unable to establish any fluidity or consistency in order to advance toward NBA championship contention due to his absence.
The Lakers are on the verge of being eliminated from the play-in round. All of these things may be enough to persuade the team to contemplate moving its top big man.

The Lakers are gearing up for another hectic summer, which will include a significant roster change aimed at restoring the team to its former glory.
Russell Westbrook’s future is in jeopardy, as his return to Oklahoma City has been everything than pleasant. Los Angeles, however, will not stop there, as ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, a veteran NBA source, has said that the organization would likely assess the Anthony Davis trade market.
“I believe it will be considered,” Windhorst said. “I believe it would be a mistake because you’re still talking about a top-15 player when he’s healthy.” You’re not going to be able to replace it.
Windhorst may not agree with the proposed path, but the Lakers are searching for any way to substantially enhance their roster. Davis is in the second year of a five-year, $189.9 million contract that will keep him in the league until 2024-25.
Due to injuries, he hasn’t been dependable since his first year in Los Angeles. In each of the previous two seasons, he has missed at least half of the season. The front staff wants to maximize LeBron James’ remaining window, particularly if it means the star forward’s deal will be extended beyond next season.
“LeBron James is eligible to sign a contract extension in August. “He’ll look at the movements from June and July and decide whether or not to extend,” Windhorst added. “When this season is thankfully gone, it’ll be a very delicate couple of months.”
Despite the fact that he is reaching the end of his career, the 37-year-old continues to play at a high level. The Lakers hope to take advantage of it by putting together a squad around him that he can lead to another NBA championship. Los Angeles is expected to investigate the possibility of trading Davis if it can significantly strengthen the roster.
The Lakers are still focused on making the playoffs.

Despite the fact that the Lakers are gearing up for a busy summer, the squad remains focused on making the playoffs, no matter how grim that prospect seems.
Los Angeles’ blowout defeat against the Dallas Mavericks has knocked them out of the play-in tournament’s 10th and last berth. The San Antonio Spurs have the tiebreaker for the last spot with seven regular-season games left and are one game behind the ninth-seeded Pelicans.
The Utah Jazz, Pelicans, Denver Nuggets (twice), Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Golden State Warriors are all in their final stretch of the regular season. The road ahead is difficult, but the Lakers are hoping that the return of James and Davis will be enough to propel them forward.
Los Angeles is at a critical juncture in their season that will determine whether they reach the playoffs or not.
