While on a trip to rekindle his wedding vows, Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins reportedly lost a tooth. When the event happened, the 24-year-old was visiting a hotel in Pittsburgh with his wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins. According to police records, the two got into an argument, and Gondrezick-Haskins punched her husband in the face. Haskins’ career and millions of dollars were on the line as a result of the incident.

The cause of the fight is unknown, although Gondrezick-Haskins claims her spouse ignored her. According to ESPN, Haskins’ wife claimed that he and his buddies abandoned her and her companions while visiting a neighboring nightclub. Haskins was reportedly struck in the face by Gondrezick-Haskins, resulting in a split lip and a lost tooth.
Haskins immediately debunked these allegations on his Instagram account, claiming that none of his teeth are gone. He reassured his followers that he is well and that they should not accept what they read in the media. According to ESPN, Gondrezick-Haskins is facing felony charges of assault and domestic abuse resulting in bodily injury.
Haskins may lose a lot of money if his stint with the Steelers doesn’t go well. Such events violate the NFL’s ethics and code of conduct, and any player who breaks the rules risks having his contract terminated.
Is Haskins out to smear his reputation?
Haskins has been engaged in numerous law-breaking events that have tarnished his reputation in addition to the Las Vegas incident. The quarterback was recently spotted in a bar with a dancer, maskless, in violation of the team’s Covid-19 guidelines.
According to NFL regulations, regardless of venue, all players must wear a mask. Haskins seems to be on a mission to violate NFL rules and is unconcerned about the repercussions. However, the outcome may not be in his favor, since he was fined $40,000 for a mistake that might have been prevented simply.
Haskins’ NFL future seems to be in jeopardy, and he may be in much more trouble as a result of these recent events. On December 28, 2020, the Washington Football Team officially released him. However, Pittsburgh supporters have been happy with his performance since his purchase by the Steelers, according to TribLive.
Haskins isn’t the only NFL player who has lately been engaged in such tragic situations. Richard Sherman was detained in Redmond, Washington, in July following an altercation. Driving under the influence, reckless endangerment of highway employees, criminal trespass in the second degree (domestic violence classification), resisting arrest, and intentional mischief in the third degree were all charged against the free-agent cornerback (domestic violence designation). According to NFL.com, he pleaded not guilty to all five counts.
The NFL’s position on domestic abuse and protocol violations
Domestic abuse is condemned by the NFL. Any athlete guilty of committing such a crime faces the possibility of losing his job. The league promotes mutual respect and expects all players to act morally at all times. In the past, athletes who were engaged in domestic violence faced being ejected from NFL games.
Ray Rice was banned for two games in February 2014, according to USA Today, for reportedly getting engaged in a domestic dispute with his fiancée. Josh Brown, a kicker for the New York Giants, was banned for one game in 2015 for assaulting his wife. Tyreek Hill was also booted from his squad in 2019 after being accused of domestic abuse. Hill was restored, however, owing to a lack of evidence. After pleading guilty to domestic violence charges, the wide receiver was sentenced to three years of probation.
