Russell Westbrook is set to make his Los Angeles Lakers debut on Wednesday night. The Oklahoma City Thunder point guard has been one of the NBA’s most dominant players since entering the league in 2008, but he says he was more nervous for the Met Gala than for his first game with the Lakers.
Russell Westbrook was more nervous for the Met Gala than he will be for his Lakers debut. The russell westbrook dress is a topic that has been brought up recently.
Russell Westbrook has yet to wear the Purple and Gold of the Los Angeles Lakers, his hometown team. However, The Brodie’s excitement for his Lakers debut pales in comparison to the anxiousness he had while prepping for the Met Gala.
When he’s on the floor, Westbrook plays with a reckless abandon. It’s a far cry from his demeanor during one of the country’s most prestigious fashion events. During a recent interview with GQ, the NBA’s most daring style icon revealed why he gets nervous before the Met Gala.
Russell Westbrook was one of several sportsmen that attended the Met Gala on Monday.
The Met Gala drew all the stars to Manhattan on Monday night, including some of the world’s best sportsmen.
Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, both tennis stars, strolled the red carpet. Simone Biles, a well-known American gymnast and Olympic medalist, joined them. Lewis Hamilton, the reigning Formula One world champion, made his comeback only days after a terrifying accident at the Italian Grand Prix. Ciara, a singer and songwriter, wore an attire that resembled Russell Wilson’s No. 3 Seattle Seahawks jersey to symbolize her spouse.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) was well-represented. Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ superstar and reigning scoring champion, was in attendance with his wife, Ayesha. Of course, no fashion presentation would be complete without Westbrook, who brought along some of his signature style.
Westbrook’s hair was dyed blue to match his outfit, and he had stars on his head. It was the kind of daring fashion statement that NBA fans have come to expect from some of the former MVP’s pregame outfits.
Unbeknownst to most basketball fans, though, Westbrook was very anxious in the days leading up to the event.
Westbrook revealed why his worries for his Lakers debut pale in comparison to his Met Gala preparation.
When Russell Westbrook makes his Lakers debut next month, he won’t experience anything out of the norm. After all, he follows a very consistent pregame regimen.
Westbrook told GQ that his pregame routine is “pretty simple,” adding that he spends time at his locker to think and doesn’t mind if the cameras are there. Preparing for the Met Gala, on the other hand, he characterized as a “detail-oriented” procedure that requires a lot of thinking. The red carpet stroll, for example, is quite different from his sprint out of the tunnel.
Westbrook told GQ, “It’s more of a beautiful walk.” “You gotta get your posture together—how you want to stand, how you want to appear, how you want your clothing to lie.” During the season, you come in and it’s game on, and you don’t give it a second thought. On the red carpet, though, you’re very aware of how you’re standing, how you’re appearing, and how your clothing are fitting you.”
In addition, the Lakers guard is under the scrutiny of additional cameras. The Met Gala has approximately “a hundred” cameras focused on the celebrities and sportsmen, considerably surpassing the media presence during an NBA game, according to Westbrook.
Playing for his hometown Lakers will put a lot of pressure on the former UCLA standout. Despite this, he doesn’t seem to be bothered by the pressure as much as he is by the prospect of attending the Met Gala.

Russell Westbrook will most likely be the playmaker the Lakers need to return to the summit.
General manager Rob Pelinka shown a willingness to take on Westbrook’s astronomical contract in order to provide LA with one of the game’s most dynamic playmakers. It’s unclear how he’ll fit in with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but the Lakers are certain that his unique dynamism can help them win.
Regardless, Westbrook is unlikely to be phased by his first walk out of the tunnel as a Lakers player. The Met Gala, of all things, has prepared him for this moment.
If Rajon Rondo re-joins the Lakers, he must quickly resolve his feud with Russell Westbrook.
