Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time, but he’s not the best scorer. That distinction goes to Joel Embiid, who has averaged a whopping 27 points per game this season with his 7’2″ frame and 7-foot wingspan.
The 1983 76ers roster is a list of the players on the 1983 Philadelphia 76ers. It’s one of the best teams in NBA history, and has many hall of fame members.
Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers has signed a four-year, $196 million contract deal, and he also has surpassed Michael Jordan in a particular scoring statistic.
It would be absurd to say categorically that Embiid is a superior scorer than MJ. The 76ers’ star is still in his prime and has a lot of work ahead of him. Jordan, on the other hand, is widely recognized as the best athlete to ever put on a pair of shoes.
The statistics, on the other hand, do not lie.
Last season, Joel Embiid was the most efficient scorer in the NBA.
Joel Embiid has always been a high-scoring player. He possesses excellent low-post instincts and uses his height and quickness to make opponents look stupid on the low block. He’s also an expert at getting to the foul line.
Embiid’s numbers, on the other hand, suggest that during the 2020-21 season, he was better than ever at putting the ball in the rim.
This previous season, Embiid set career highs in scoring (28.5 points), field goal percentage (51.3 percent), three-point percentage (37.7%), and free-throw percentage (85.9%). His true shooting percentage of 63.6 percent was by far the highest of his career.
The 27-year-old controlled the game in every way. Embiid’s inside-out scoring skills, along with his ability to get to the free throw line, made him almost difficult to stop throughout the season. During the playoffs, he pushed it to a new level as well.
With a torn meniscus, Embiid played almost the whole playoffs. Despite this, he scored 28.1 points per game and shot 51.3 percent from the field in 11 postseason games.
The Sixers’ center is one of the greatest scorers in the league today. He is, in fact, one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, according to one statistic.
In terms of points per 36 minutes, Embiid outperforms Michael Jordan and everyone else.
All-time most points per 36 minutes:
Michael Jordan (28.3) George Gervin (29.3) Joel Embiid (28.1) James Harden (26.5) Kevin Durant (26.5) (26.3) LeBron James (25.4) Stephen Curry (25.4)
What a crazy list to be at the top of. #HereTheyCome

Embiid holds the record for most points per 36 minutes. Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and others are all ahead of him with 29.3 points per 36 minutes.
Is this a nitpicky Embiid number? It is, without a doubt.
In the NBA, Embiid has appeared in 260 games and logged less than 8,000 minutes. Jordan, on the other hand, appeared in 1,039 games and tallied over 41,000 minutes throughout his career. Embiid has only played more than 60 games twice in his career, averaging little over 30 minutes per game. Jordan played in all 82 games in nine separate seasons, averaging over 38 minutes per game.
Longevity and consistency, of course, are important. Detractors of Embiid will refer to his struggle to remain healthy and the Philadelphia 76ers’ use of “load management” strategies to keep him on the court.
Even yet, it’s hard to deny the basic reality shown by this statistic: Embiid is probably the most dominating scorer in NBA history when he’s on the court.

Much of the emphasis in Philly this summer has been on Ben Simmons’ future with the Sixers. Embiid, on the other hand, had his moment in the limelight on Tuesday.
ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne claimed that the 76ers have agreed to a four-year, $196 million supermax deal agreement with Embiid. The contract contains pay escalators year after year, as well as a player option in the final season. If it wasn’t previously obvious who the Sixers intended to build their team around, it certainly is now.
Embiid is a charismatic superstar and one of the greatest two-way players in the NBA, capable of energizing the fans at Wells Fargo Center and making the game enjoyable for his teammates. He’s also one of the NBA’s all-time leading scorers.
Embiid’s numbers and awards show his individual ability, but he has yet to achieve the ultimate team objective. The Sixers will most certainly hope that throughout Embiid’s deal, he can help the club win the Larry O’Brien Trophy at least once.
