To get a good understanding of the situation, it’s important to know that Ronaldo has two main agents: Jorge Mendes and Simon de Quieroz. The former runs Ronaldo’s affairs for him, while the latter is a consultant for Mendes; they represent a large number of top players in the world, and are instrumental in the transfer market. The Ronaldo-Juventus situation has been a tense one: after four years at the Juventus, Ronaldo returned to United and signed a new £300,000-a-week, four-year deal in the summer of 2018.
It’s been five years since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford for the Bernabeu in a world record £80m move after nine seasons with the Red Devils. After everything he’d achieved, it was hard to believe that Ronaldo would leave but that’s exactly what happened. The Madrid outfit also offered him bonuses of £30m each year, which he couldn’t turn down.

Phil Jackson is most remembered for his accomplishments with the Chicago Bulls’ Michael Jordan, but he had nearly as much success with the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant. They won five titles together (compared to six with Jordan) and appeared in the NBA Finals a total of seven times.
Theirs was, however, a complicated connection. They had a great deal of mutual respect, but it came after some tough moments when they appeared to be unable to stand one other. In fact, Bryant alleged that Jackson would “manipulate the media against” him based on their private talks.

In 1999-2000, Phil Jackson went to the Lakers to coach Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal after winning six championships with Jordan and the Bulls.
They went on to have great success, winning three straight championships in Jackson’s first three years in Los Angeles and reaching the finals once more in 2003-04.
After the 2003-04 season, however, both O’Neal and Jackson departed, and Bryant ended up writing a book titled The Last Season: A Team in Search of Its Soul, which reflected badly on him. According to GQ, he even labeled him “uncoachable.”
According to The Washington Post, Jackson stated to ESPN in 2015, “I’m sure Kobe was angry when I said in The Last Season that he was uncoachable.” “And, sure, we were often at odds. I wanted him to be more disciplined, while he wanted more freedom. On almost every level of competition, this is a common cause of tension between coaches and players.”
Jackson returned to the Lakers in 2005-06, but Bryant claimed their enmity was at an all-time high during their first season together.

Bryant talked to GQ in 2015, during his second-to-last season in the NBA, about the difficult relationship he had with Jackson at the start.
“Well, most successful people are a little conceited… “I was extremely obstinate,” he said. “I was like a wild horse with the potential to be Secretary of State, but who was just too f—ing wild. So he was attempting to tame me in some way. He’s also extremely smart, and he saw the dynamic he had to deal with between Shaq and myself. So he’d take shots at me in the press, which I assumed he was doing to ingratiate himself with Shaq.”
Bryant, on the other hand, said that he was aware of Jackson’s actions and that the coach was mocking his intellect.
“Why don’t you simply come to me and tell me?” he said. “Another issue was that I would confide in him and tell him things, and he would then use those revelations to use the media against me. And it was from that perspective that I eventually replied, ‘No way.’ I’m not going to cope with it any longer.’ This happened in the first three titles of our career.”
Bryant went on to claim that some of Jackson’s press remarks prompted him to declare, “I’m done with this man.” He’d play for him and win championships. He would, however, “have no contact with him.”
The coach’s methods, on the other hand, pushed him to be the best he could be.
“Whether deliberately or subconsciously, he placed enormous pressure on me to be efficient, excellent, and great now,” he added.
Although their relationship was difficult at initially, Bryant and Jackson eventually worked things out and developed a strong connection.
Later on, the two Lakers icons became good friends.
In 2008-09 and 2009-10, Jackson and Bryant went to three more finals together and won two more championships. According to Jackson, they were able to do so by “working it all out.”
According to The Washington Post, he stated to ESPN in 2015, “I gave him more of a license to do his thing as long as it remained inside the broader framework of the triangle.”
Bryant ultimately had nothing but kind things to say about his old mentor. “They’ve been the best mentors, not just in my career as an athlete, but also as a person,” he told Complex in 2017.
When Bryant died in 2020, Jackson spoke about their connection.
According to Bleacher Report, “Kobe was a chosen one – unique in many ways to many people.” “Our coach-player connection went above and beyond the usual. He passed through the veil.”
The player-coach duo of Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson was one of the most dominating in NBA history. Success, on the other hand, is usually the result of a battle, and that was certainly the case with those two NBA superstars.
