Bode Miller is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, having won gold medals for both Team USA and Italy. When he announced his retirement from professional skiing at age 35, I couldn’t help but wonder how life would be different if you decided to retire earlier than planned.
“I’m not planning to meaning” is a phrase that has been used in the past. It’s typically said by athletes when their team is about to lose or they are retiring.
When James Harden is a basketball player from the United States. declined to sign a three-year, $161 million contract deal in the summer, he alarmed Brooklyn Nets fans everywhere. The unusual choice raised questions about his future with the team, but the nine-time All-Star says he has no plans to leave.
Harden informed Nets supporters after Brooklyn’s opening-night defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks that this is where he wants to stay for the foreseeable future.

According to the New York Post, Harden had a three-year, $161 million contract extension on the table ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season, which would have kept him in Brooklyn until 2026. But, much to the surprise of many, The Beard refused that option, opting to finish the season with just two years remaining on his current contract.
With all of the uncertainty surrounding Kyrie Irving and the franchise’s future, it’s understandable that Nets supporters are concerned that Harden may test the market when he becomes a free agency in 2023.
However, there’s no reason to be concerned.
Harden said Tuesday after the Nets’ opening-night defeat to the Bucks, “Honestly, I’m just focusing on getting healthy, getting my body right, and then preparing for a great season.” “The deal will be fulfilled, and the funds will be available.”
James Harden has no intention of leaving the Brooklyn Nets.
When asked why he didn’t sign an extension before the deadline, James Harden said “I like being here and feel at ease.” It’s nothing to be concerned about… For me, I just want to concentrate on this year.” “I don’t intend on quitting this company,” he said flatly.

Prior to this season, Nets fans would have preferred to extend Harden’s deal for three more years, but he’s just playing the long game with his contract situation. This Thursday, he informed the residents of Brooklyn that he would not be going anytime soon.
I have no intention of leaving this company or the current scenario. So, to be honest, all I want to do is concentrate on the season and then win the title. The contract and everything of that will play out, but my attention will be solely on this season.
You’ll understand why Harden didn’t sign a contract extension this year when you see how much money he could earn if he signed one next summer instead.
$227 million on the line
Harden could have signed one of the most expensive contracts in the NBA this summer, but by waiting another year, he may create NBA history.
Harden may opt out of his $47.4 million deal next year and sign a four-year, $227 million extension next summer, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks. Harden would earn $61.8 million in 2026-27 if he accepts the contract, making him the first player in NBA history to earn $60 million in a single season.
Yes, it all makes sense now.
Harden said Tuesday, “I enjoy it here.” “The communication has been fantastic from top to bottom. It’s been incredible. I’m at ease here. It’s nothing to be concerned about. Individually, all I want to do is concentrate on this year.”
Fans of Brooklyn need not fear. Harden isn’t going away anytime soon.
