Why do Fading Embers exist?
One of the various end-game currencies is Fading Embers. When Elder Rifts are opened, they become accessible. The merchant Cellik [Fading Embers and Runes] in the town of Westmarch will trade your earned embers for FA Runes at a cost of 18 embers per rune.

Runes are important, so why?
Why then should you purchase Runes? mostly because they’re essential for producing Legendary Gems. In Diablo: Immortal, Gems increase your character’s stats similar to previous games in the series.
