The Philadelphia 76ers have been struggling to find their footing without injured superstar Ben Simmons and the team is not phased by his absence.

The “Ben Simmons’ Teammate Confirms the Philadelphia 76ers Aren’t Phased by the Absence of Their Missing Superstar” is a headline from Bleacher Report. The article states that Ben Simmons’ teammate, Jerryd Bayless, has confirmed that the Philadelphia 76ers aren’t phased by the absence of their missing superstar. Read more in detail here: is ben simmons a superstar.

Ben Simmons will not be a Christmas present for the Philadelphia 76ers this year. For the franchise that chose him first overall over five years ago, the star point guard has yet to play a single game this season. The Sixers have had to adjust to life without their All-Star point guard, as well as the media’s relentless barrage of stories. However, in the City of Brotherly Love, it’s business as usual, as one of Simmons’ colleagues put it.

The Philadelphia 76ers are unlikely to re-sign Ben Simmons.

Simmons is still a part of the 76ers’ roster. Despite all indicators, the 25-year-days old’s in Philadelphia look to be numbered.

The three-time All-Star has made it apparent via his comments and actions that he has no desire to be a part of the 76ers organization. While the guard was formerly considered a key member of Philadelphia’s championship core, the franchise has been actively looking for a trade partner. Three clubs remain in the sweepstakes, according to the most recent report.

This all began following Simmons’ awful performance in last season’s Eastern Conference semifinals. Soon later, rumours surfaced that the 6-foot-11 standout was looking for a new start. His dissatisfaction with the organization only grew until he informed the club that he was psychologically unable to play. However, after refusing to comply with club doctors, the Sixers started fining their unhappy point guard for each game he missed in the future.

Simmons, a two-time All-Pro, is in the second year of a five-year, $177 million contract deal.

The 76ers are unconcerned with the Simmons scandal.

With such a high-profile topic, the 76ers who are present have been forced to respond to queries on behalf of their absent teammate. Despite the increased attention and ridiculous drama surrounding a 16-15 season, the Sixers do not consider Ben’s prolonged hiatus to be a distraction.

On JJ Redick’s The Old Man and the Three podcast, Philadelphia forward Georges Niang was questioned about the Simmons incident. From 2017 to 2019, Redick was a teammate of Simmons’ and asked Niang how it’s been playing without their star point guard.

“I’ve never played with him, so I have no idea what it’s like to have him in practice,” Niang said to Redick. “Obviously, those three days [at training camp]… it was difficult for me to concentrate in practice because I was like, ‘Alright, what’s going to happen here?’” Simmons said.

Niang stated how he and the rest of the squad have been able to move on without their floor general as time has gone.

“It’s clear that he addressed the squad. “He isn’t mentally ready to play,” Niang, who is 28 years old, remarked. “But now we’re concentrating on who’s going to play tonight and how we’re going to get through it.” And [head coach] Doc [Rivers] has made a point of saying, ‘Hey, one battle at a time, one day at a time.’ This season, we’re going to go with whomever is on the active roster that night.”

Is there a limit to how far the Sixers can go without Simmons?

The Sixers are 16-15 and have a long way to go to duplicate their Eastern Conference-leading 49-23 record from last season. Despite his weaknesses, Simmons was instrumental in Philadelphia’s current position. So, do you think you’ll be able to return without him?

Joel Embiid will continue to play a key role in the 76ers’ success. Without Simmons, the 7-footer’s offense has slowed somewhat, but the four-time All-Star is still averaging 25.1 points and 10.9 rebounds. Guards Seth Curry and Tyrese Maxey are both having strong seasons for the Sixers, with both players benefitting from more playing time than they would have had if Simmons wasn’t there.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, is 16-15 for a reason. As of Tuesday, its offensive and defensive ratings were 19th and 20th in the league, respectively, indicating a below-average squad. Underperforming players like Tobias Harris, who is falling well short of the expectations that came with his five-year, $180 million deal, may help Philly a lot. Though any potential Simmons deal and what it can obtain for the unhappy star is likely to be Philly’s greatest opportunity to improve.

Don’t anticipate the 76ers to lose focus on the job at hand if or when the Simmons transaction goes through.

Basketball Reference provided all statistics, while Spotrac provided contract data.
